Marion L. Bell

Since a few years I am the adopter of the grave of Sgt. Marion L. Bell in Margraten (95 BG H, 334 th SQ)
He was a Ball Turret Gunner of a B-17G Flying Fortress with serial number 42-102951, callsign Q.
74 years ago on February 3, 1945, this aircraft crashed at pole 26 on the beach of Texel. It was on the way back from a mission to Berlin. In addition, the entire crew was killed. According to eyewitnesses they lived after the crash, but they were killed by the Germans.

Since I came into contact with this, I started looking for information. Especially after reading an SGLO bulletin from 1977 (contribution from Mr. Cocural) the whole story did not let me go.

During my search I’ve already learned a lot from eyewitness reports, MACR, War crime commission reports, forums, etc. I also came into contact with his daughter and his brother and other family members.

For example, the photo of the crew or the B17 is still missing.
And I also have questions about the aircraft itself. Has this aircraft been cleared at the time? Could it be that the aircraft parts are still under the sand?

If there are people who have more information about the Morris crew, the missions or the aircraft, I would like to get in touch with them. Perhaps people have information in their own archive that can not be found on the internet.

I would very much appreciate hearing from you.

Thanks in advance!

Alvast bedankt!
